Capital Structure Solvency and Cash Flow
The company reported $496.0 million of cash from operating activities in 3Q11, compared to $342.0 million reported in the year-ago quarter. Cash and cash equivalents at the end of the third quarter were $2.69 billion, up from $$2.53 billion reported in the previous quarter. The company has $1.555 billion in total debt outstanding and its net cash position was $1.130 billion.
For FY11, management expects cash flow from operations to grow in a range of 2% to 7% in constant currency. As of the December 31, 2010 exchange rates, this translates to reported cash flow from operations of $1.40 billion to $1.48 billion.
Share Repurchase
During the quarter, CA repurchased approximately 1.5 million shares at a total consideration of $35.0 million.
The Board of Directors authorized the repurchase of up to $500.0 million worth the company’s common stock, in May 2010.
Dividend
On February 2, 2011 CA announced that the Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of 4 cents per share and will be paid on March 14, 2011 to the stockholders of record at the close of business on February 14, 2011.

Governance Social Responsibility and Employee Relations
Torokina Networks Pty Ltd: On January 25, 2011, CA announced the acquisition of the privately-held Sydney, Australia based telecommunications management solutions provider. The company had earlier worked with CA as partners and independent vendors.
Hyperformix: On November 2, 2010, CA announced the completion of the acquisition of privately held Hyperformix. It is a provider of capacity management software for dynamic physical, virtual and cloud IT infrastructures. The acquisition will help CA to increase its gain in virtualization management.
Arcot Systems Inc.: On October 5, 2010, CA Inc. announced the completion of acquisition of privately held Arcot Systems, Inc. for $200 million in an all cash transaction. The acquisition adds fraud prevention technology and advanced authentication to the company’s Identity and Access Management (IAM) offerings. IAM allows identification and management of data used in an information system.
