Exiting 2Q11, Red Hat had cash and cash equivalents of approximately $1.64 billion versus $968.0 million in 1Q11. Days’ sales outstanding were 49 days, compared with 53 days in 1Q11 and 54 days in 2Q10.
Total deferred revenue balance was $649.6 million, up 4% sequentially, and up 12% y/y. Current deferred revenue increased 15% y/y (+3% sequentially), while long-term deferred revenue increased 3% y/y (more than 6% sequentially).
Cash Flow
Operating cash flow was $64.3 million in 2Q11 versus $60.6 million in 1Q11. For FY11, operating cash flow guidance remained unchanged at $280.0–$290.0 million.
Stock Repurchase
During 2Q11, the company repurchased 5.0 million shares as compared with 2.5 million shares in 1Q11.

Red Hat recently acquired Makara, a developer of deployment and management solutions for applications in the cloud. Makara's technologies will accelerate the development of Red Hat’s comprehensive Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution as part of its Cloud Foundation portfolio. Red Hat introduced Cloud Foundations in June 2010.
